Mary Monahan Markiewiecz phoned me here in Colorado to inform me of Bill’s passing. Nancy Dunn sent me the newspaper clipping of Bill’s obituary notice. I was not aware of his health condition.

There are no words to express my sadness to hear about the unexpected passing of Lewis. In the past year, he had come back to the high school…..and visited with the group of teachers who are still left there nearly twenty years after he graduated! It was wonderful to hear of his professional success, but he was most proud of his role as husband and father! Lewis’ attitude, optimism and enthusiasm for life were truly inspiring! I did ask about Debbie and Eddie….having worked with both in the high school….and he spoke just as proudly of both of you! I am out of town for the end of this week….so will not be able to join you at the services, but please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers!
